Co-founder of the scientific school of forensic pharmacy, pharmaceutical law, medical law, organization of pharmaceutical business and technology of medicines (1998, Kharkiv). Areas of scientific research: improvement of the regulatory framework of the system of control and permitting circulation of medicines of all clinical and pharmacological, nomenclature-legal and classification-legal groups; development of rulemaking initiatives; monitoring of rational and safe use of medicines; development of new drugs based on potent, poisonous, psychotropic substances, narcotic, intoxicating drugs and precursors, etc. According to the directions of the scientific school, three doctoral and 24 PhD works were finished in the specialty 15.00.01 – drug technology, organization of pharmaceutical business and forensic pharmacy. Finished by the dissertation recipients are fragments of the research work of the department on the topics: "Forensic Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Legislation and Evidence Pharmacy" (state registration number 0108U009172; term of implementation 2010-2019) and "Improvement of the organizational and legal procedure for providing patients with medicines Pharmacy, Organization and Management of Pharmacy "(State Registration Number 0116U003137; 2015-2020)".
The developer of more than seven medicines ("Galopril", "Valkofen", "Kardacet", "Paravit", etc.), which are implemented in industrial production and medical practice.
Author of more than 1200 scientific works, including articles in international scientific metric specialized peer-reviewed scientific publications (Scopus, Web of Science), scientific professional publications of Ukraine, monographs, patents of Ukraine and other countries (more than 40), information letters, methodological recommendations, materials of scientific- practical conferences, congresses, conventions, etc.
Shapovalova V.O. since 1998 was a member of the Pharmacological Committee of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, a member of the Scientific and Expert Council of the State Pharmacological Center of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, a member of the Pharmacopoeial Committee of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, a member of the Methodological Commission of the National University of Pharmacy. boards of specialized scientific journals "Medicines of Ukraine", "Bulletin of psychiatry and psychopharmacotherapy", "Clinical pharmacy", "Ukrainian bulletin of psychoneurology", "Ukrainian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Medicine","Pharmacom","Forensic Journal", "Archive of Psychiatry", "Ukrainian Medical Almanac","Health of Society","Theory and Practice of Law".

Deputy Chairman of the Advisory and Advisory Body at the Department of Healthcare of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration "Scientific and Methodological Council on Pharmacy" (since 2012), Chief Freelance Specialist in the pharmacist specialty "Organization and Management of Pharmacy" and "General Pharmacy" of the Department Healthcare of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, member of more than 20 working groups and commissions at the Healthcare Department of Kharkiv Regional State Administration (since 2012).
Shapovalova V.O. until 2012 conducted important public work as a deputy and member of the Presidium of the Primary Intersectoral Union of Afghan Veterans and combatants in other countries under the investigative management of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kharkiv region. With her participation it helps to activate the veteran movement, to carry out individual educational work on formation among the specialists of pharmacy, medicine, students of respectful attitude to the veterans of Afghanistan, pensioners, invalids and veterans of law-enforcement bodies, their families and elderly people, target their structures under their own Of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region for more active participation in solving medical-pharmaceutical and socio-economic problems of the mentioned contingent of persons.
For services in the development of pharmaceutical education, improvement and optimization of legislation, as well as the regulatory field in the pharmaceutical sector, in accordance with the requirements of the European Union and the World Trade Organization, was awarded the honorary badge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine "For assistance to the Internal Affairs of Ukraine" (2006).
